Lemon, Lime & Mint Refresher

Updated: Nov 12, 2021

Drinking plain filtered water can get boring fairly quick and that's why I got very creative with my drinks. This lemon, lime and mint refresher tastes better if you make it a day in advance but you can also make it on the fly...it just won't taste as strong.

ALLERGY WARNING: If you are avoiding "Histamines" you'll want to pass up this recipe. This recipe contains natural histamines from the lemons and limes. If histamines are not a problem for you, this drink can be consumed on any of the 8 phazes in the PhazeMoldDiet.

RECIPE: (Scroll down for the health benefits)

TOOLS YOU'LL NEED

  • Glass Pitcher With lid or large mason jar with lid

  • Cutting Board and knife

  • Water filter (We love AquaSana or Berkey)

  • Citrus Squeezer

INGREDIENTS:

4 organic limes

2 organic lemons

1 cup or small bunch of organic mint leaves

INSTRUCTIONS:

  1. Run approximately 1 gallon of water through your filter

  2. Poor about 2 cups of that water into the small bowl and set aside

  3. Pour remaining water into your pitcher or jar

  4. Squeeze one lemon and one lime into the water and add your mint leaves.

INFUSER IDEAS

You can also buy an infuser or pitcher that may be a valuable investment on the PhazeMoldDiet. An infuser would allow you to constantly keep fruit-infused water on hand in the fridge. Buy this one below

Benefits of a Lemon, Lime & Mint Refresher

Helps your digestive system

Drinking lemon and lime water on an empty stomach early in the morning helps stimulate the gastrointestinal tract. Digestion improves, heartburn is reduced and it helps in the process of elimination.

Detoxifies liver Lemon juice has "natural" citric acid (not the fake mold-derived citric acid), which helps enzymes to function better. It also stimulates the liver and aids in detoxification. The liver is one of the first organs to be attacked with a mold exposure.

Works on your pH level

The acidity in our body can be worse after a mold exposure and can be harmful. Drinking a lemon, lime and mint combo in water can help reduce this. Though lemon has citric acid, the nutrients and minerals in it are actually alkaline in nature. Citric acid is not a strong acid and so, it is easily removed from our bodies by elimination processes like perspiration. Lemon, however, stimulates the formation of calcium carbonate that neutralizes other strong acids in the body. This can be very helpful, especially if your diet (Before the PhazeMoldDiet) is heavy in proteins like meat and cheese. Experts say lemon can help change the pH balance of the blood and can also help in dealing with urinary tract infections.

Strengthens your immune system

All citrus foods are a storehouse of vitamin C. This vitamin is known to fight colds and is needed to defend against mold and is good for your immune system. Lemons also have potassium, which stimulates brain and nerve function and controls blood pressure.

Clears and freshens your skin

Experts say that vitamin C is great for youthful skin, because it helps in the production of collagen. Its antioxidants revive dull skin and keep it healthy. Warm lemon water removes toxins from the blood stream. Also, diluted lemon juice, when applied to blemishes, can actually help lighten them.

Battles bad breath

Lemon juice battles bad breath by keeping bacteria away.

Tips:

Adding a little RAW honey to your lemon juice makes it more palatable and also battles phlegm and helps rid your body of mucous.

Hey guys!! I'm Jennifer.  I was exposed to toxic mold 10 years ago and struggled my way through detox.  I created this site to help other mold sufferers follow a "mold detox diet" successfully.
