A simple low carb snack with apples, almond butter and slivered almonds.
Sometimes, frankly you just need a little protein and a good carb thats not going to set you back on your PhazeMoldDiet goals. This quick snack is perfect for any time of the day and make great options for kids.
KITCHEN ITEMS YOU'LL NEED
Glass or stone cutting board (avoid using plastic or wood to avoid toxins)
Optional: Apple corer similar to the one below (or you can take out the seeds by hand)
Serves 4-6
INGREDIENTS
4 Organic Granny Smith apples
1 cup of no added sugar almond butter
1/2 cup organic slivered almonds
For creamier almond butter
Mix your 1 cup of almond butter with-
1 tsp raw unfiltered honey
1 Tbsp either: Almond oil, coconut oil or Safflower oil (NOT TO BE CONFUSED WITH SUNFLOWER OIL)
INSTRUCTIONS
Rinse apples and remove any labels
Placing apples on their sides use your cutting board and knife and slice the apples sideways forming rings. Remove the seeds and core of the apples.
Spoon the almond butter on top of each apple ring, or for a more creamier consistency of almond butter you can follow the directions above for "creamier almond butter". I do like the creamier almond butter blend better because you can stretch your almond butter out longer. We all know almond butter can get extremely expensive so this technique of making it smoother is better. In the photos I "did not" thin out the almond butter and simply spooned the almond butter onto the apple rings straight from the jar.
